OUR NEIGHBORS | The most rewarding job in life is motherhood, entrepreneur says

Foodie and local entrepreneur Sheila Ellis-Glasper is a mother, wife, friend and daughter in this community.

Ellis-Glasper, 35, is a born-and-raised Kansan who grew up in Topeka and then graduated from Kansas State University in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications and journalism.

After graduating, she moved to Virginia to work for the Roanoke Times as a crime reporter, where she used the power of social media to help report and find a 15-year-old missing girl.

“Social media takes away the gatekeepers, and that’s what I love about social media,” Ellis-Glasper said.

Ellis-Glasper recently joined Topeka Capital-Journal reporter India Yarborough to talk about the importance of social media for today's small businesses, how it can be used to connect businesses with potential customers and why it should be a key tool in every small-business owner's toolbox.
